Efficiency and powerAudi A6 engines

The engines in all versions of the Audi A6 feature efficiency-enhancing direct injection. This creates a particularly favourable relationship between supreme power development and good fuel consumption for all model versions.

FSI® engines in the Audi A6

The most potent engine in the Audi A6 is a V8 FSIFSIGetting more out of every drop of petrol.FSI ® unit for all fans of sporty power. From a displacement of 4.2 litres the free-revving engine produces 257 kW (350 bhp), delivering its high torque of 440 Nm from as low as 3,500 rpm. Equipped with this high-tech lightweight engine it takes the Audi A6 just 5.9 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h. Despite these sporty figures the eight-cylinder powerplant uses just 10.2 litres of fuel per 100 km.

The 3-litre V6 engine featuring TFSITFSIAudi was the first manufacturer in the world to combine petrol direct injection with turbocharging in large-scale car productionTFSI ® technology and compressor supercharging is also extremely powerful. Its output of 213 kW (290 bhp) is available across a wide range from 4,850 rpm to 6,800 rpm. The high torque of 420 Nm develops in the range from 2,500 rpm to 4,850 rpm. With this state-of-the-art direct-injection unit the Audi A6 accelerates from 0 to 100 km in only 5.9 seconds. In view of the remarkable performance figures, fuel consumption is very moderate at 9.4 litres per 100 km.

Just how well the Audi A6 combines sporty, comfortable travel with excellent efficiency and low consumption is illustrated particularly effectively by the Audi A6 2.8 FSI with its 2.8 FSI® petrol engine: the V6 high-tech power pack, depending on version, delivers 140 kW (190 bhp) or 162 kW (220 bhp) and produces its maximum torque of 280 Nm across a wide speed range from 3,000 rpm to 4,500 rpm or 5,000 rpm respectively. The sprint from 0-100 km/h is completed by the version with 162 kW (220 bhp) and multitronicmultitronicThe multitronic® is a continuously variable transmission.multitronic ® in only 7.3 seconds. Yet the A6 2.8 FSI uses a mere 8.4 litres of fuel per 100 kilometres. This equates to CO2 emissions of only 196 grams per kilometre – impressive for a 6-cylinder petrol engine.

Consumption figures and emission values:
Fuel consumption, combined: 7.5-10.2 l/100 km
CO2 emissions, combined: 174-244 g/km

TDI® engines in the Audi A6

Top of the Audi A6 diesel engine range is the 3.0 TDITDISynonymous with muscular torque delivery and outstanding efficiency: TDI. Today, TDI engines are sporty, smooth and economical.TDI ®, which with its output of 176 kW (240 bhp) achieves sporty performance along with very good fuel consumption. The substantial torque of this high-tech diesel unit – 450 Nm across a wide range from 1,400 rpm to 3,500 rpm – accelerates the Audi A6 to 100 km/h in an impressive 6.6 seconds, or with the optional tiptronictiptronicGearshifts with the minimum interruption in power flow – the six-speed tiptronic transmission unites automatic shifting comfort and outstanding driveability.tiptronic in 6.8 seconds. Despite the sporty figures this beefy TDI® engine consumes only 6.7 litres of fuel per 100 km; with the comfort-oriented tiptronic it uses 7.1 litres per 100 km.

The 140 kW (190 bhp) six-cylinder 2.7 TDI® engine is likewise a powerful and fuel-efficient unit. Consumption figures for all model versions start with a 6 before the decimal point – the version with a 6-speed manual gearbox, for instance, requires only 6.2 litres of fuel per 100 km.
The three 4-cylinder diesel versions for the Audi A6 are equally notable for their particularly low consumption figures and their dynamic power development. The Audi A6 2.0 TDI with an output of 125 kW (170 bhp) and a 6-speed manual gearbox achieves not only powerful acceleration, sprinting from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.9 seconds, but also extremely good fuel consumption at 5.7 litres per 100 km.

The A6 versions with the 100 kW (136 bhp) diesel engine achieve even lower fuel consumption: the Audi A6 2.0 TDI e consumes as little as 5.3 litres per 100 km, despite the fact that this model reaches a top speed of 208 km/h and accelerates from 0-100 km/h in only 10.3 seconds.

Consumption figures and emission values:
Fuel consumption, combined: 5.3-7.1 l/100 km
CO2 emissions, combined: 139-189 g/km
