Real Madrid and the Audi brand can both look back on over a hundred years of team and corporate history. As the team's automotive partner, the "galácticos" have been putting their trust in "Vorsprung durch Technik" for quite a while now: stars such as Raúl, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Christoph Metzelder appreciate the dynamic qualities of Audi and quattro four-wheel drive.
AUDI AG has been the exclusive vehicle partner of record-breaking Spanish league champions Real Madrid since 2003, and has repeatedly demonstrated how alive the partnership is. Before the Spanish club's stars were presented with the keys to their new models at the start of the 2008/2009 season, the players were treated to an Audi Golf experience at the "Ciudad Financiera" golf club in Boadilla del Monte. In teams comprising one experienced golfer and one novice, including new signing Rafael van der Vaart, the players completed an enjoyably relaxing round on the course in Madrid.
Unsurprisingly, the football stars opted for the most sporty models in the Audi range. While van der Vaart ordered an Audi S5 with 4.2-litre FSIFSIGetting more out of every drop of petrol.FSI engine, his team colleagues Pepe, Sergio Ramos, Fernando Gago and Dutch superstar Wesley Sneijder can all now be spotted on their way to the training ground in an Audi R8. Another popular model among Real's "galácticos" was the Audi Q7, which all of nine players chose as their new form of business travel.
