  Walter Röhrl to climb Pikes Peak again

  25 years after Walter Röhrl drifted up Pikes Peak in the Audi Sport quattro S1 and set a record that still stands today, the two greats will be reuniting in 2012. On July 8, Röhrl will be driving in the famous hill climb, also known as the Race to the Clouds, for the second time.

  Historic winners on the Audi stand

  Winning cars from the hillclimb scene are the highlights of the Audi Tradition display at the Techno Classica, the world’s largest classic car show. Visitors will see successful competition cars from four generations, including the Auto Union Type C Silver Arrow (1936) and the Audi Type C Alpine Rally winner dating from 1919. A special highlight is the Audi Sport quattro S1 that legendary rally driver Walter Röhrl took up Pikes Peak 25 years ago in a series of drifts and won the event in a new record time.

  A new experience of history with Audi Tradition

  It’s full throttle for Audi Tradition as the 2012 season gets under way. Car enthusiasts can see its historic vehicles at more than 25 events throughout Europe during the year. In Monaco, legendary Formula 1 driver Jacky Ickx will be at the controls personally to drive the Auto Union Type D Silver Arrow dating from 1938 through the Principality. Nor would the list of events be complete without the Mille Miglia. And this year’s Audi Tradition display at the “Techno Classica” in Essen, the world’s largest historic car show, is twice the size of last year’s: valuable vehicles from the company’s history will be seen on more than 700 square metres of floor space.
